Portulaca is a low-growing, succulent annual known for its vibrant, rose-like blooms and exceptional heat and drought tolerance. It thrives in dry, poor soils and spreads nicely as ground cover or in containers and rock gardens. The flowers close at night or on cloudy days and open fully in bright sunlight.
